Mindfulness as a Potential Tool for Developing the Personality of the Social Worker
Michal Kaczor
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):51-61 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.036
This article represents mindfulness as a potential tool for the development of the social worker's personality through which mental health and, consequently, physical state can be effectively maintained. At first, mindfulness is approached through the interpretations of various authors. Its perspective is further supported by the results of various scientific researches. The current state of mindfulness raising in social work (including traditional, official courses MBSR, MBCT) is introduced. Through these courses mindfulness can be developed, improved and maintained. Finally, space is also given to the 'pitfalls of mindfulness, i.e., to the risks...

Helena Lustová
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):62-69 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.037
The article is addressed to a wide range of readers, from the public unfamiliar with the topic of social work generally to the experts who have not had a chance to know the specifics of hospital social work in the United States. The goal is to provide an up to date overview of the subject in the current post-presidential election climate. The article does not provide a deep analysis of social work methods. It rather analyses the selected characteristics that are important for defining the hospital social worker's current and future role in the US health care system. It briefly describes the development of the hospital social worker's status and his...
The Instructor-Professional! A Worker or an Animator?
Richard Macků, Veronika Röhrerová
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):79-88 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.039
The paper responds to the current phenomenon of young instructors working in organisations that are engaged in the development of individuals and groups using experiential methods. These young instructors are methodically well-equipped, but their experience often has only 'instant nature'. Therefore, the text deals with the differences in the concept of the instructor working in the role of the animator on one hand and the instantly working instructor-worker on the other. The aim of the qualitatively conceived empirical probe was to map the perception of issues related to instructorship among the instructors of experiential events themselves. Semi-structured...
The teacher of religion - missionary and evangelist, but also a professional and expert. Above all, however, a Christian experiencing a deep internal relationship with God through Christ
Ludmila Muchová
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):104-120 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.041
The study aims to define the possible essential characteristics of a Czech teacher of religious education today. First, its audience is informed about a piece of empirical research carried out in the Czech Republic and German speaking parts of Europe. This builds the theoretical framework for a qualitative probe of the religious education teacher's personality, as such. The study is based on data analysis of a focus group of religious education teachers from České Budějovice. The final interpretation finds a certain type of the religious education teacher, which was identified in the interview and creates the possibility of further empirical research.

The presented work is called 'The employee in the helping professions - a unique person, a professional, a worker?' The Social and Pastoral Worker: A Reflection of Self-Responsibility Based on the Principles of Christian Ethics offers a partial 'picture' of the ethically demanded profile of a worker in helping professions, namely of a social and pastoral worker, based on the reflection of social changes and with those associated changes in the human moral consciousness in postmodern or hypermodern society, and the concept of responsibility in the tradition of Christian ethics, particularly embodied in the ideas of Pope Francis and his apostolic exhortation...

Jana Maryšková

Differences in Religious Socialisation across Generations
Ján Mišovič
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):216-229 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.049
Religious socialisation has been an important issue for many foreign authors. In their analysis, they use (in addition to domestic research data) data containing information about national units which are obtained from the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) 2008: Religion III. The topic of religious socialisation is beginning to attract attention even within Czech professional discourse. The article builds on existing approaches and focuses on the circumstances of religious socialisation in the Czech Republic. It deals with the degree of intergenerational transmission of religious ideas. The aim is to evaluate the form of religious worldview...
The Theory of Natural Law and its Application in Social Work. Philosophico-Theological Points of Departure and Contemporary Practical Application
Michal Opatrný, Monika Flídrová
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):243-255 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.051
The study aims to provide argumentative support for utilising the theory of natural law in social work, because it enables the subject to apply universal values and norms in particular social and cultural conditions. This study conceives the theory of natural law as one of a number of ethical theories relevant for social work, i.e., such as are applicable in solving social problems. It derives its reasoning from the so-called dynamic conception of natural law, which in the case of social work provides the worker with basic orientation and places an emphasis on the freedom and responsibility of the individual. For this reason, this study views the theory...
The Possibilities of Using Empirical Methods in (Practical) Theology
Jana Šídlová
Caritas et veritas 2017, 7(2):269-282 | DOI: 10.32725/cetv.2017.053
Traditionally, the thinking horizon of theology seems to be different than the one of the social sciences. Theology and the social sciences also use different methods. However, since the Second Vatican Council, the methods of the social sciences, the empirical methods, have been gradually implemented into practical theology. However, there exists not only one way of carrying it out. The paper deals with the possibility of using empirical methods in (practical) theology. Johannes van der Ven's models of relationships between these methods and practical theology are described and analysed. Intradisciplinarity is granted as the most suitable model for...
