The study aims to define the possible essential characteristics of a Czech teacher of religious education today. First, its audience is informed about a piece of empirical research carried out in the Czech Republic and German speaking parts of Europe. This builds the theoretical framework for a qualitative probe of the religious education teacher's personality, as such. The study is based on data analysis of a focus group of religious education teachers from České Budějovice. The final interpretation finds a certain type of the religious education teacher, which was identified in the interview and creates the possibility of further empirical research.
