Qohelet as an Expression of Old Testament "Pastoral Care" of the Rich

The paper presents the book of Qohelet as an example of Old Testament pastoral care of the rich. It starts with the main question the author addresses, which is the meaning of life and happiness. It then passes to various generally offered answers and rules them out as not satisfying. Finally, it provides an answer of its own. The paper views this questioning of human life and its meaning as an expression of Old Testament pastoral care of the rich, because the book is aimed at a rich audience whom it teaches how to find happiness and meaning in life.
