How can Comenius’ work inspire the humanities and social sciences nowadays? Can Comenius’ work help Christian life in the 21st century? More than 50 years ago, Jan Patočka drew attention to the fact that Comenius had not yet been thought through in any other way than in the narrow didactic approach. Is it now time to take Patočka’s challenge seriously and rethink Comenius’ philosophy of education? What was the meaning of that interlude on the threshold of modern science, where Comenius was seen side-by-side with Mikuláš Kusánský? How to read the author of General Consultation today in order to work on the improvement of human affairs?
