This paper deals, in the context of the topic of "pastoral care of the rich", with the problematic nature of the ambivalent attitude to the rich and powerful people of this world. Based on the potent incentives of the book Business as a Calling. Work and the Examined Life (1996) it tries to interpret their difficult position and vindicate the business sphere. The topic is set in the context of some impulses of Catholic Social Doctrine.
